Patch Pockets

Step 1: Trim the seam allowances to 1/4" around the sides (sketch 1).

Step 2: Finish the edge of the hem, then with right sides together fold the hem back and stitch along the 1/4" seam allowance around all sides of the pocket. (sketch 2).

Step 3: Turn the hem right sides out and topstitch the hem through all layers (sketch 3).

Step 4: Match the pocket to the dots marked on the body of the garment, and sew a reinforcement triangle at the top of each corner of the pocket, and stitch pocket in place through all layers (sketch 4).

Please note: the edges of the pocket will automatically roll under along the stitching line, making this ideal for balanced curves on a rounded patch pocket.

Congratulations! You just completed another a new technique!
