Step 1:
Trim the seam allowances to 1/4" around the sides (sketch
1).
Step 2: Finish
the edge of the hem, then with right sides together fold the
hem back and stitch along the 1/4" seam allowance around
all sides of the pocket. (sketch 2).
Step 3:
Turn the hem right sides out and topstitch the hem through all
layers (sketch 3).
Step 4:
Match the pocket to the dots marked on the body of the garment,
and sew a reinforcement triangle at the top of each corner of
the pocket, and stitch pocket in place through all layers (sketch
4).
Please note: the edges of the pocket
will automatically roll under along the stitching line, making
this ideal for balanced curves on a rounded patch pocket.
